Bouncy Beach Ball Cuddles

Beach Ball

Like probably any other 5 year old you care to name, the Munchkin says the funniest things. He also says some of the most bizarre, outrageous and hideous things too, but that’s another story.

He even says funny things while he’s half asleep.

This morning, I attempt to wake him at 7.25am (yes, I know – I’m spoilt).

Munchkin: “I need a cuddle Mum, a bouncy cuddle”.

Me: “What’s a bouncy cuddle?”

Munchkin: “I mean like a beach ball, it would be soooo refreshing!”

Hmmm… sounds like a ‘70s Coke ad.

I give him the biggest cuddle I can muster while standing on a kid’s chair, leaning over the railing into his high bunk. He rolls over, hitches the doona over his head and attempts to snooze on.

A new day has started.

(Of course, it all went downhill from there with regard to Munchkin conversation. I think we ended at a big pincer machine robot thing ripping the guts out of some poor Magicland criminal – eewww!)

What funny (bizarre, outrageous or hideous) things have your kids said today?

It’s Day 17 0f the My Happy Place 30-Day Challenge, and I’m still going strong. Hope you are too. This wonderful initiative is being run by the awesome Nathalie from Easy Peasy Kids. Help us spread a little more happiness by posting about the special little things in life that bring us joy. You can view all my My Happy Place posts here.

This is also rather fitting, our next Story Starter Challenge (from our Little Tackers Story Starter conversation cards) is “My favourite time…” and “Cuddles”.

  1. My 6 year old has to write a speech as part of the public speaking subject this term. He’s writing about our guinea pigs. When I suggested that maybe we should inject a bit if naughty humour into the speech and say that the guinea pigs poo alot my son looked at me all serious like and said “I think that might be offensive mum”.
Apart from the fact that he didn’t quite say offensive properly, what 6 year old uses offensive in their vocabulary. Crazy kid.

    Love & stuff
