It’s Day 1 of The Plan.
Work on the dirt restaurant has commenced, with the new “stove” sanded and adorned with its first coat of bright red paint.
It must have inspired the Munchkin, as while I am gathering last year’s dead fern fronds and tidying up the garden, I overhear the sounds of some fabulous cooking going on. It seems to be coming from the dragon on the back deck.
“Right, let’s add some hermit crab and a few mussels. Queen, can you have a taste, please?”
A ladle is handed to me. “Delicious!” says the Queen.
“Hmmmm… I think it needs some snails.” The Queen is not convinced. A few minutes later, the dragon hands me the ladle again. “Absolutely exquisite! You were definitely right about the snails.”
The cooking continues. “Oops, I forgot the vegetables. They’re very important for a dragon’s health you know.”
I turn around, expecting to find a frenzy of stirring, mixing and tasting from the dragon. Instead, all I see is one small boy, still in his chair, waving a ladle about.

I had my own 5yo moment today and just had to share it. My bigboy was talking about what a friend from child care thought of “Cars 2″. At first when I asked him, he replied that he hadn’t been told. Next minute he says “He said it was GREAT”. Then when we querie him about having asked just a moment earlier, he replies “My head wasn’t with me”. So cute, but it continues… Apparently his head was left behind at daycare and caught an old silver train (his favourite type) to get home, and only just got here when he told us what his friend thought. Later I showed some absent mindedness as well, and said I must have lost my head too. He then said his and mine must have gone riding trains together. Just so cute!!!

Hoping that silver train is a bullet train… You might need it! Such a cute story, Jennie. Thanks for sharing.
