While going through the backlog (or should I say backblog) in my Google Reader, the above sentence grabbed my attention (admittedly, being bold italics in the middle of a quote does help!)
The post was by Gwyn Michael on the Scoutie Girl blog, talking about attending blog guru Chris Baillieu’s World Domination Summit. She spoke about a new type of leadership, a “non-competitive, everyone wins kind of leadership that allows success for all”. Cool! At the end of the summit, a challenge was put forward… to take the inspiration from the (apparently incredible) conference and combine it with action, to bring about change and personal improvement.
It really got me thinking.
Almost one year ago, I had just released the Story Starter Collection at markets. After watching the movie Julie and Julia I started blogging regularly, using Leaf’s Story Starter conversation cards as a starting point.
It sounds simple, but it has brought about incredible change in my life. I’ve discovered my latent passion for writing, connected with some amazing people, grown increasing comfortable with my role as a mother, reflected on the innermost depths of my psyche. Powerful stuff!
As we reach the middle of the year, and my blogging anniversary, it’s time to reflect… What could the next year bring?
Most of our understanding of journal-keeping is around one of these two forms -
Today’s Journal Journey is about peeking into the future.
The Dream Journal – my life in one year’s time.
Step 1: Find a quiet space and some free time (yes, I know…)
Step 2: Project one year into the future. What will you life be like? What changes do you want to make? What’s important to you? How is that different from how you feel today? What do you wish to have achieved? How do you feel?
Step 3: Write it all down.
Step 4: Put it away in a drawer, somewhere where you will find it. Or send yourself an email using Future Me.

Oh Cath, totally brilliant. Did not quite keep with your inspired task but I did manage an instant ‘go’ of a letter right now and sent it to myself via Future Me. Rather than project forward, I took this unexpected prompt as an opportunity to land and colour this moment specifically like a time capsule. I have boxes of journals stored (from the age of 10), but the writing has moved into other areas now and it was lovely to ‘dear diary’ once again. Such a great link, thanks!

Jo, I’m so pleased you have sent your little “letter to the future”. I think this is one amazing idea to share with those wonderful kids you will be inspiring very, very soon as well, don’t you?
